Obscure Saints?

washing-feet[1]Ever heard of these people?

Priscilla, Aquila, Epaenetus, Mary, Andronicus, Junio, Amplias, Urbane, Stachys, Apelles, Aristobulus, Herodian, Narcissus, Tryphena, Tryphosa, Persis, Rufus, Asyncritus, Phlegon, Hermas, Patrobas, Hermes, Philologus, Julia, Nereus, Olympas.

Perhaps you recognize a few of the names, but most of us could not rattle off this list of beloved saints.  These saints were loved of Paul and loved of  God.  These unknown saints labored in ministry at the church of Rome.  Obscure to the world, for sure, yet the Holy Spirit saw fit to breath out their names in Romans 16, noting their service to God.  From Paul’s day to present, these 26 saints stand as a witness to all Christians that seemingly obscure service is not really obscure at all.

At least not to God.  God notes the service of love that we render to Him and to others.  What an encouragement that though our service may seem small, insignificant, mundane, nothing special… God sees it all.  The list of ministering believers in Romans 16 teaches us a great lesson.  May it motivate us in our ministry.

Summer Adenture Club is coming up.  A great opportunity to serve.
