7 Questions to Begin a Gospel Conversation

We know we’re supposed to witness. We know we’re supposed to give the Good News. God has even burdened our heart for a specific individual. Yet, we often struggle with how do I start the conversation? How do I begin? Remember, when giving the Gospel people have questions. Believe it or not, you are more equipped than you realize to answer those questions than you may think. Beside, being asked a question that we may not be able to answer is not a bad thing. It reveals we’re human and that we may not have all the answers, but given a little time and study we probably can give a reasonable answer. Here are seven Gospel conversation starters:

  1. How would you describe your relationship with God?
  2. Who do you think Jesus is?
  3. Where would you say you’re at on your journey of knowing God?
  4. How does your religion impact your life?
  5. What is your understanding of what the Bible is about?
  6. Does your “faith” answer all your most important questions of life?
  7. How do you teach your family about spirituality?

What are some questions that you use on a regular basis to begin Gospel conversations? I’d love to have an additional 10-15 questions throughout the comment section. Here’s an additional list that spurred my thinking.

  1. Great post.

I often ask, “Do you have any religious belief of any kind?” Many times, the very question followed by a listening ear, prompts the person to respond in kind. “What do you believe?”
