Types of Fasting

  1. Full Fast: Drink only liquids (you establish the number of days).
  2. Daniel Fast: Eat no meat, no sweets and no bread. Drink water and juice. Eat fruits and vegetables.
  3. 3-Day Fast: This fast can be a Full Fast, Daniel Fast or give up at least one item of food.
  4. Partial Fast: A partial fast is from sun up to sundown. You can select from three types of fasting —a Full Fast, Daniel Fast or give up at least one item of food.

The key to fasting is not the removal of food as much as it is the prolonged exposure to God and the Bible and thus a closer, growing relationship with Christ.

We recommend that you consult your physician before beginning any type of fast. If you are in poor health or have concerns about your physical ability to fast, we urge you to consult a physician before beginning. There are different types of fasts recommended. Your doctor can give advice on how you can take part in a way that is healthy for you.
