Day 2: Consider His Life – Praise Emphasis Week

(John 20:29-31) Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed. And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book: But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.

What are some of the works of Jesus? (Ask your children to name some of these.)  In what ways did Jesus perfectly keep the law of God? Consider his miracles, his temptations, his obedience unto death.

What do Jesus’ works mean?

  1. Jesus is the only person who perfectly pleased His Father. (Matthew 3:17)
  2. Like a substitute teacher stands in the place of another teacher, Jesus stands in my place as the perfect and obedient Son of God.  Galatians 2:20 makes it clear that Jesus’ life of perfection actually takes the place of my life.
  3. Because of Jesus’ perfect life, God the Father loves us with the same love that he has for Jesus Christ.  That’s hard to grasp, but Jesus said it! “…that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.”  (John 17:23)

Praise Christ for his life!
