Day 5: Consider His Glory – Praise Emphasis Week

Philippians 2:5-11  Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:  Who being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:  But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:  And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.  Wherfore, God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:  that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;  And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

What is glory?  Dave Harvey definies it this way:  Glory is a New Testament word that speaks of worth, dignity and weight.  Glory is randiance and spelendor that exists to be recognized.  It has to do with reputation, esteem, standing and honor.  Hebrews 1:3 says that it is Christ who is the “brightness [or radiance] of his glory.”

Family Talking Point:  In what ways has this weeks focus on Christ helped you to see him as more valuable?

God has hard-wired us to pursue what we value. If then, our pursuits reveal what we prize; Is there something that you are valuing and pursuing more than Christ?

According to Philippians 2:5-11, in what ways did Christ show us the glory of the Father?

What are some specific areas within our home and church in which each of us can reflect the glory or value of God as Jesus did?
